Casual farm wedding in New Castle, Va. Virginia Wedding Photographers.
It’s not every wedding you get to document two friends love and commitment to one another. We, as wedding photographers, are so often strangers or new acquaintances when it comes to photographing a wedding. This wasn’t the case for Liz and Adam at their New Castle, Virginia, wedding at their new farm, Singing Spring Farm. New Castle isn’t too far from Roanoke and West Virginia and made for a wonderful early autumn wedding. Their farm is shaping up to be something amazing, with a log cabin sourced from white pines from their farm, and Icelandic sheep. This may have been the most thought-out wedding I have worked in a long time, with so much locally sourced goods like the flowers, by Gwynn Hamilton and Bert Webster Stonecrop Farm (www.stonecropfarmers.com) to the food. Aren’t weddings about the food anyway? And this fare was simply to die for, from everything all the way down to the bourbon chocolate pie (among many others).
The day started around their newly framed log cabin, with the guys getting ready their and my assistant, Billy Wolfe, working to capture some of the finer details. I met Liz down at Big Pine Trout Farm for getting ready and dress shots. Her dress by the way….WOW! The dress was handmade by Nellie Rose Textiles (www.nellierosetextiles.com). She is rad, check her out. The ceremony had a lot of especially thoughtful speeches from family and friends and kept along the lines of the 2018 wedding season being somewhat non-traditional. A squash was even smashed at the end. We hurried through formal photos and high-tailed to the top of their ridge for some amazing portraits, especially with their sheep.Anyways, enough with words. Below are some of my favorites from their day. Enjoy.
