California meets the Glade Creek Grist Mill engagement session.
Laura and Rob’s morning engagement shoot at Babcock State Park. Rob is my brother and his fiance, Laura, are getting married in Yosemite in November and they wanted not only I to be in the wedding, but some photos made of them in West Virginia. The two live in San Francisco, and they get back to the Mountain State a couple of times a year to visit.
Rob had wanted some photos made of them that said West Virginia, so we figured one of the most iconic things in the state is the Babcock Grist Mill. The mill, which still works along Glade Creek , and was completed in 1976 by combining parts of three other West Virginia mills, it is a replica of the original Cooper’s Mill that was located nearby. The park’s web site describes the Glade Creek Grist Mill as a living, working monument to the more than 500 mills that used to be located throughout the state.
We shot around the creek, the mill and the swinging bridge, which is a hidden gem for those that know where to find it. Below are some of the images from the day:
