A surreal, foggy vowel exchange in the Sods.
This Dolly Sods elopement was surreal. I cannot say that enough. The fog! It was like nothing I’d ever seen up in the Sods. If you have been before, than you know the weather can be unlike the surrounding areas. But, oh my! After a month of severe drought in the Mountain State, the rains finally came the day before this lovely elopement. As a photographer It was very much welcomed as it gave such moody images.
This couple were just aces. They were all about the weather and so laid back about some heavy rains at times. We started out getting some couples photos due to the rains at the “tree.” If you know, than you know. I’ve been wanting to get a bride and groom there forever! And was stoked we stopped there first. After that, we hurried to Bear Rocks for some super moody photos. “There is a great view behind the fog,” I said. Given that both Katie and Austin are from Michigan, they had no idea you can see all the way to Virginia’s Shenandoah National Park.
Some rain, some fog, some Dolly Sods.
During this Dolly Sods elopement and following bouldering around Bear Rocks, we made our way back down the road and stopped for a vowel exchange in a meadow with some mid-Summer flowers. This was so sweet. After that we made our way to the nearby town of Davis, WV, to Blackwater Falls State Park for some waterfall photos before we parting ways. I simply loved this shoot so much. Please enjoy the photos below and reach out!
