A moody romance in downtown Charleston
This Hale Street Center Wedding was pretty amazing! Miranda and Chris were going for a little retro feel with some of the decor and overall vibe. The venue was great for that. I have known Miranda for a long time and when she asked me to photograph her wedding to Chris I was super pumped because I knew there would be a solid style that I would enjoy. The Hale Street Center is fantastic. Their day of coordinator however was egregious. In 15 years of shooting weddings I have never seen a more awful day of coordinator than what was provided by the venue. The coordinator, Faye Nett, never reached out to myself, despite telling the bride she did. She never confirmed with them their menu, but said their will be food. WHO DOES THIS? The food was awful by the way with dry chicken, green beans and potatoes. No bread or salad was provided. During the ceremony she never contacted the bridal party and was clearly making not only the bride and groom visibly upset but the wedding party was horribly agitated. She made no efforts to help the flow of the day and was often seen leaving the site or just on her phone.
Do not let this person run your wedding. When we were outside taking photos she was standing behind me with her arms crossed and tapping her foot to tell us the bar was no longer open and was cash only now. When the bartender was clearly in the weeds and said they had no fruit for garnish the coordinator was sitting on a couch beside the bar on her phone. When she could have gone to the main bar and restaurant, the Hale St, and gotten fruit for her coworker. She didn’t and was horribly unprofessional.
That aside this Hale Street Center Wedding was perfect for small to medium sized weddings.
Don’t let the coordinator deter you though. Just don’t pay or use them. I’m looking forward to working here again. The space is lovely and is great to bop around downtown for photos as well. Enjoy the photos below.
