A non-traditional wedding at Nelson Farm, Canaan Valley Wedding Photographer.
Non-traditional weddings are slowly becoming my favorite. It is simply nice to break from the norm and throw a party that isn’t so expected. Libbey and Alex’s wedding at the Nelson Farm in Canaan Valley was just that. White dress? Nah. Typical seating and aisle? Nope. Cake? But why not pie? Their wedding was stunning gorgeous. Libbey got dressed at the nearby Canaan Valley Resort Lodge, while Alex keep it chill at the venue. There was a swarm of Monarch butterflies that flew in circles around the ceremony site (which was setup like a compass with true North) and it really gave a feeling of magic to the day. The ceremony was thoughtful and unique as the images below show. A pair of local musicians played “Nothing Else Matters” by Metallica as they both made their way down the aisle. Yes, Metallica.
After the ceremony, was fantastic catering by the fine folks at Whitegrass at partying. Eventually, the bluegrass band, the Hackensaw Boys, made their way out and played a killer set. I have been a fan of that band for years and was beyond belief that Erika, at Ella & Co., who planned the wedding and did a top-notch job doing so, said they booked them. They played a fantastic set with the Virginia based group ending playing “Alabama Shamrock” in among the crowd. This is surely one of my favorite weddings of all time and am thankful I got to document it. Enjoy.
