Cold and romantic Snowshoe Mountain Wedding
This Snowshoe Mountain Wedding was exactly what one would expect for December in West Virginia. Cold but not a lot of snow yet, though romantic all the same. Laurel and Jackson are one heck of a couple and I was honored to photograph their wedding at the Pocahontas County resort. Even though this wasn’t exactly how they hoped their snowy wedding would go, it was pretty lovely.
I learned Laurel and Jackson are such a laid back couple from their Roanoke engagement we did earlier in the year. They were so incredibly laid back and down for whatever – which always makes a rad couple to work with. Snowshoe sits at 4,848 feet elevation and is often very windy. The ceremony was outside and it felt like it was 12 degrees out. The wedding party and guests all sucked it up and made it work and did a great job at staying warm. I think it was incredibly worth it as any wedding ceremony outside is always a good thing.
Snow, snow, snow.
Snow: that is why you have a wedding at Snowshoe in December. However, there just wasn’t much down yet, but luckily I saw a spot near the Western Territory where they had been making a ton of snow and covered the pines and ground in a thick blanket of that man-made-pow. After the ceremony and formalities we raced over to grab a few photos as the sun sat behind us. Those photos turned out great as you can see below and I was so thankful we decided to chase some snow.
Afterwards the reception was pretty nice and The Cats Meow Entertainment did a fantastic job. Please enjoy the photos below and if you are looking to book for a Snowshoe wedding please reach out.
