University of Charleston Wedding, Michelle & Matt, Charleston, WV | WV Wedding Photographer

Relaxed wedding at the University of Charleston.

As a West Virginia wedding photographer, getting to document a wedding at a venue that allows ample photos of the iconic gold dome is always a pleasure. The fact it was for such an amazing couple, and new friends, just makes what I do all more worth it. Michelle and Matt are two amazing people and when they first reached out, Matt said he absolutely had to have me photograph his wedding.  It worked out great. We did a short engagement session in the spring in the New River Gorge – unknown to me near where Matt proposed – that mixed both snow and blazing heat. Their June wedding day could not have been more West Virginian. Temperatures in the high 80s with similar humidity with a gorgeous blue sky. Michelle and Matt didn’t want getting ready photos and we started with a first look under a shaded pine tree. First looks are always the best! We then moved to do couples and family photos before the ceremony. It is always nice to get those out of the way if you can.

The ceremony was nothing short of authentic. These two were made for each other and after the kiss they danced down the aisle – that was cool! The rest of the night was full of games, like jenga and corn hole, strong sangria and Bridge Brew Works lager and spending time with friends and family. Below are some of the favorites form their day.
