A colorful, rainy day wedding in the highlands of West Virginia.
Blackwater Falls Wedding by WV Wedding Photographer Chris Jackson Photography. It is very rare when rain can bring ruin on a wedding day. It is always a testament to a couple, when faced with crap weather patterns for an outdoor wedding, that they find the best in a situation. As a wedding photographer, I find that rain can bring out a lot of fantastic situations for making photographs. Like fog hanging in the Blackwater River Gorge, it gives a look that is devoid on sunny days. Allison and AJ were prime examples of this. They never stopped smiling on this day. The locals in Canaan have a saying: “It can rain in Canaan.” And rain it did. It poured almost the whole day. Shay’s Run was raging and made the shoot over the bridge at Elakala Falls exceptional. The rains ceased, temporarily, to allow for the outdoor ceremony to happen. This was a Jurassic Park themed wedding, yes, that is right. They even made an appearance (you will see). I have to admit, this was one of my favorite weddings not only because of the quality of images I got, but of how Allison and AJ made this day standout. These two have been a couple since they were in high school, and it showed. I am always humbled by being able to document almost strangers on one of their most intimate days of their lives’.
I worked this wedding with my outstanding wedding photographer friend, Kara, at karaleighcreative and the only way this wedding happened was because of Erika and her staff at Ella & Co. in Thomas. Book her. Do it now. I am not going to write much for this, because the photos say everything.
